Music House student bands are frighteningly good. In fact, some of them are indistinguishable from professional bands. Come to one our many concerts and see/hear for yourself. The Underestimated Yeti Project (yes, they thought of that themselves) rehearses at our Lenexa location and is comprised of 9 & 10 year old musicians. Don't let their young age fool you, though. These guys, perform regularly, write their own music, and, as you'll see below, think deeply about their approach to music.

What do you think the difference is between a good band and a great one?

Lilly: Good bands stick to just one certain sound and it all kind of sounds the same. Great ones are versatile with their style and sound. That's what we try to be.

Tyler: Great bands don't just play music; they put on a great show.

Crosby: And the great ones are the ones that people remember—the ones who influence the most people.

What do you guys do that's special—that set's you apart from all the other Music House bands?

Everyone: That's easy. We are the youngest!! But you can't tell when you hear us play.

Who are your biggest influences?

Cayden: Micheal Jackson, Beethoven, Angus Young, Bon Jovi, Slash, Jon Williams.

Lilly: 21 Pilots, Mozart, Foster the People.

Paige: Perry Gripp, Kesha, Chef Special.

Stella: The Killers.

Rylan: Drums are loud, so I like any drummer who plays loudly.

How would you describe The Underestimated Yeti Project's style?

Everyone: We like to think of our music as "alternative."

What has working with a real band taught you that goes beyond what is taught in private music lessons?

Cayden: It has taught me how to stick with the beat. That's so important.

Tyler: It's taught me not to overplay. Sometimes less is more.

Do you guys write your own music? If yes, do you prefer writing your own stuff or covering others?

Everyone: Yep. We write music and that's what we love doing the most.

Anything else you'd like to add?

Lilly: We're more than just a band. We've become great friends!
