"Polite No" is a cohesive band of 5 musicians: Anthony, Daniel, Leah, Zane, and David.
Their answers to our interview questions show a strong commitment to forming a cohesive group. Their band name also explains a lot about how their band formed up.
Take a look at their answers to our interview questions below:
How did your band come up with that name? Tell the story.
Anthony: We transitioned members in and out, so we decided to change our band name. This was a phrase someone said in response to a question.
How long have you been playing your instrument?
- Anthony: (Bass) 6 years
- Daniel: (Drums) 8 years
- Leah: (Vocals) 2 years
- Zane: (Guitar) 5 years
- David: (Guitar) 5 years
If you could magically convince one famous musician, living or dead, to join your band, who would it be?
- Daniel: Mozart
- David: John Mayer
- Leah: John Lennon
- Zane: Peter Frampton
- Anthony: Shakey Graves
Why is it so important for a musician to perform and collaborate with other musicians (as opposed to always just practicing alone)?
- Leah: It's important to help evolve yourself and your sound.
- David: To broaden your views/opinions on music.
What is something you've learned from another musician in your band?
- Daniel: Friendship and band chemistry can take your playing to another level.
- Zane: It's important to listen to other members in the band, know their part so that you know how you fit in the group.
Describe the most excellent, memorable moment you've ever had with your band.
- Anthony: When we played in a Battle of the Bands in 2018, and I cut my hand open while playing my bass, haha. It was crazy.
What do you guys do that's special – that you think sets you apart from all the Music House bands?
- Zane: We focus a lot on original material.
Imagine one of your friends takes private lessons somewhere (not at Music House). They tell you that they love music and wish they were as good as you, but they're getting bored with lessons and might quit. What advice would you give them?
- Leah: Try a new teacher. They might offer a new perspective.
- Zane: Try exploring a new genre of music.
- Daniel: It would be cool to try and join a band because it's so beneficial.
2018 Battle of the Bands didn't work out perfectly for Anthony and "Polite No," but 2019 might be their comeback year. We look forward to hearing their original material and wish them a lot of luck!
You can meet "Polite No" at our upcoming Music House event!
