Zakara York
VoiceZakara’s musical journey began at home, with musician parents and siblings. She started writing songs soon after picking up the guitar at age 11, singing in her school choir throughout childhood. After her high school years, Zakara performed abroad, learned recording techniques at Street Saunders Records, studied psychology, and worked with disabled youth. Incorporating art, music, and movement into an after-school program, Zakara relished the opportunity to employ educational techniques she learned from studying music pedagogy with Kate Hurley in Asheville, NC. She returns to KC excited to connect with new students and teachers in the Music House community!
