Li(t)quid - Lila Smith, Lily Rosenboom, Bailey Gray, & Ivy Andrews

Meet Li(t)quid, one of our Expansion level bands here at Music House. These talented students are fun to listen to (as their teacher says, they're a solid band), but they're also pretty fun to talk with. And... they've been teaching us a lot about Gen Z slang. Enjoy this recent interview with the gang.

Why do you guys call yourselves "Li(t)quid". How did you land on that name?

Lily Rosenboom: Our teacher, Kevin, said, "You guys were really solid." Then Bailey said, "What if we wanted to be liquid?" And the rest is history.

What is the best part of being in a band?

Lila Smith: It's fun socially because you get to meet all these people who like the same music as you. It gives me something to look forward to in the week. Plus you get to be Alpha.

Ivy Andrews: I like lead singing and I like the people in the band. And that's it.

Lily: I feel like I'm Justin Bieber.

Bailey Gray: I like being social because I'm home-schooled. I like listening to the conversations... and playing music.

What are some of your band goals?

Lila: Make my boi Kurty proud (Kurt Cobain). (editor's note: she's referring to Kurt Cobain, of course.)

Ivy: Be ready to audition to be in a Focus band and be able to sing louder. (editor's note: the different band levels here at Music House are called Expansion, Focus, & Mastery.)

Lily: I want to be able to play more difficult songs in more genres.

Bailey: To get gooder.

What is your most memorable band experience?

Lila: Screaming during The Hunger by the Distillers.

Ivy: When we wrote our first original song as a team.

Lily: When we all did Karaoke before New Year's break.

Bailey: When my band didn't show up and my instructors made a really cool jam band with me.

If you got to open for any band or artist, current or defunct, who would it be?

Lila: Car Seat Headrest.

Ivy: L7.

Lily: Lil Peep.

Bailey: Noah Finnce.

What advice would you give to students that are just getting started?

Lila: Find people for inspiration, keep going, and never compare yourself to others because they're at a different spot in their journey.

Ivy: Be patient.

Lily: Be a silly goober and a sigma alpha cause you don't care what anyone else thinks becuase you're mogging them like kai cenat and baby gronk. (editor's note: ?)

Bailey: If you're the drummer, stay silent in the background.

What do you guys do that's special – that you think sets you apart from all the Music House bands?

Lila: We each have our own individual style.

Ivy: We all get along so well.

Lily: I'm sigma and they're not and I'm mogging them.

Bailey: We have Kevin. (editor's note: awww.)

How has playing with other people benefited you?

Lila: It's a relaxing space and my band members have taught me how to be more sigma.

Ivy: I've become a better singer.

Lily: I am way better at playing bass and other instruments and have explored more types of music.

Bailey: I am a social butterfly now.
